Manhattan Nano DSM-4S satellite meter guides dish aim easily, perfect every time
Not currently available- please do not order. The latest developments in satellite identification technology have been packed into the Manhattan Nano DSM-4S satellite meter. The clear and easy to read display ensures perfect dish alignment every time. Its unique satellite direction system shows you which direction to move your dish in order to find your chosen satellite and will only look for the satellite you have selected. A satellite meter is very different from a satellite finder which is a cheaper, more basic device. A finder will give an audible and LED signal when the dish is pointing at any satellite - but there is no way of knowing which satellite it is receiving so you need to start by knowing where to point in the first place (and this varies according to your location) and then check your TV to ensure that you have found the right satellite. Many motorhomers have mastered setting up their manual satellite systems, with or without a satellite finder and can do it in minutes. But If you've ever used a satfinder and struggled to find the right satellite, this clever piece of kit makes finding satellites quick and easy.
Why we rate it GREAT STUFF! We have included the Manhattan Nano satellite meter as one of our Great Stuff items because its promise tempted us to have a closer look at it: although we are practised enough to be able to point our manual dishes without one (so could we justify it?) undoubtedly there have been times when having one would have saved us a lot of frustration. So, in short, we would like one... It's visual indicators and satellite confirmation look like a great idea, if it works well. But we decided that we needed to test it before we could endorse it - Our full test of the Manhattan Nano DSM-4S, with photos, slideshow and video Software downloads
Below are the latest satellite packs, supplied to us by the manufacturers in October 2012. They reflect current changes to satellite transmissions and positions - notably at the 28.2E position. Note that there are additional packs which we expect to receive very soon; we will post them here when we have them.
Instructions for installing packs - Download the file and unzip the .exe file and save it onto your computer. First plug in the Nano (using the USB port and the USB cable which was supplied with your Nano) before opening the file.
The install procedure is: Your manual includes the instructions for updating but the above should suffice. Firmware upgrade Firmware Upgrade v.1.8Recent Manhattan DSM-4S units already have the latest firmware, which is version 1.8 (the version is displayed briefly on the Nano's screen when it is turned on). If you have an early production unit with an earlier firmware version, you can upgrade it by downloading the Firmware Upgrade file above. The installation process is similar to the satellite pack updates, and is simple to perform. Instructions for Firmware Upgrade - Download the file and unzip the .exe file and save it onto your computer. First plug in the Nano (using the USB port and the USB cable which was supplied with your Nano) before opening the file. The upgrade procedure is: Version 1.8 should now display on the screen when the Nano is turned on.
